What is Search Engine Optimization | SEO Definition
Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving the quantity of visitors and quality of traffic to a website from search engines such as Google, MSN, or Yahoo! through search results. The ranking of a website in the search results determine the chances that site to be visited by online users. This means that the higher a website ranks in the search results, the more searchers for targeted keywords.
According to Wikipedia: Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.
Search Engine Optimization or SEO involves a “spider” from search engines to crawl the web pages, downloading and storing it on the search engine’s server. A second program indexes specific contents from the web page, such as words and phrases on the page and links contained in the page.
