Blog Review | John Chow Dot Com

JohnChow.com is my first blog review. I have select JohnChow.com because couple months ago when I saw a review post from John Chow and it encourage people to review his blog. But at that time I still do not have my own blog. So, today is the second day of lunar new year, I decided to apply my checklist to review John Chow dot com.
John Chow registered the domain name with combination his first name and last name. In the first sight especially for newbie or beginner, “johnchow.com” serve no meaning for them. They will think that this is another personal weblog or personal website. This is because “John Chow” is a personal name and doesn’t exist in dictionary. Anyway, in term of domain name and blog name, John Chow using the right strategy in the perspective of search engine. For existing readers, they will see johnchow.com as a brandname for John Chow.
What is the objective “john chow dot com” and who are the audience? Based on the “About” page, I can’t figure out what is the objective of his blog. But read through the posting from John Chow, I can confirm that this blog is “money blogging”.
That means he try to provide blogging tips and make money tips from blogging, so the audience can benefit from his useful tips.
John Chow mentioned before that his English not so good but based on his posting, I can’t spot any writing typo error. When I read every sentense, his english language is better that most of the people. His blog post is quite consistent in daily posting and most of the time more than 2 posts a day. The daily new content provide some juice information to readers and search engines. In John Chow dot com, he is the only information provider and can’t see any guest posting from his blog. The images inserted in the blog post contain of advertisement links and sometimes look not so nice to readers. But some readers doesn’t care about this portion. There is a free ebook given by John Chow by subcribe the free newsletter. The ebook contains of making money information from John Chow through blogging.
For the John Chow blog design portion, the theme designed by “Unique Blog Designs“ and is a professional theme. Overall page layout is look nice and neat. The advertisement banner and badge is quite alot in the home page. Maybe this is the way to attract readers to click through the banners? Anyway, overall the advertisement placement are well design especially the top bar keep changing randomly for increase the click through rate. For navigation link on the header is very clear cut for readers to look for the information they want as well as the search form provided at the top right hand side.
For category portion, readers can find in archives and the sidebar at the home page. Is this duplicate?
The Google PageRank for John Chow Dot Com is 4 out of 10. In Alexa Ranking, his blog ranked 3980. In the Rating Burner , John Chow Dot Com ranked in 32 (top 50). From the homepage I can see more than 15k readers subscribe to his feedburner feed. If 15k readers request John Chow to review their blog, can you imagine how much John Chow make money from the review? Let’s count $450 x 15k = $6.75 million! For speed loading time tested in iweb is 0.3 seconds for 71.1KB and the website speed is quite fast. My own rating given to John Chow Dot Com will be 7 out of total 10 based on above 5 criteria.
