What is Blog?
Let’s look at few generic definitions below:-
- Generally, “Blog” is a frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts.
- Some people say a blog is a mixture and combination of what is happening in a personal life and the event on the Web.
- Blog is called web log or weblogs. Sometimes named as a server’s log files.
- Blog is a diary written on the web with frequently posted and store in the web server.
- A blog (short for weblog) is a personal online journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Creative way known as “We-Blog”.
- Blogs are defined by the format of a series entries posted to a single page in reverse-chronological order. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or reflect the purpose of the website that hosting the blog.
Broad Definition in Blog
So what is a weblog actually in comprehensive explanation? Blog is an online journal consist of hiperlinks and postings in reverse of chronological order with most recent posting appears at the top of the page. Weblogs typically link to other websites and blog postings and allow readers to post commentary on the original post and therefore allowing audience for discussions.
Blogs run a tons of topics from personal event such as hobbies in niche topics until a series of views, daily event and news from health, political, internet, computer, business and so on. It may be pointers to other people’s products such as domain registration and hosting company like Bluehost.com or a site devoted to the latest and greatest widgets. The blog is constantly evolving, though and move into the new era involving video blogging and images. Thousands of new blogs are being created daily for all sorts of purposes from personal life to commercial including discussion communities about particular issues.

The biggest defining factor that we believe makes a site is a blog is that information is presented based on date - the newest material is available at the top of the blog. Categories may or may not be present - the index page of that section must be presented based on date. We also believe that blogs are not the same as a community forum - whereas in a forum anyone may be able to start a new post/entry, on a blog, only a select few can.By our definition, sites that are thinly veined as ‘blogs’ whilst in fact only attempting to sell products/services do not count as blogs. A Web site (or section of a Web site) where users can post a chronological, up-to-date e-journal entry of their thoughts. Each post usually contains a Web link. Basically, it is an open forum communication tool that, depending on the Web site, is either very individualistic or performs a crucial function for an organization or company. There are three basic varieties of blogs: those that post links to other sources, those that compile news and articles, and those that provide a forum for opinions and commentary.
